First Place: Gaby Moreno
Congratulations to Los Angeles and Guatemala-based Gaby Moreno, First Place winner of Round 5 of the QuickLaunch Song Contest – with her song “Each Day.” The song is awesome! Check it out. Great heartfelt vocals, heartbreak-type lyrics, strong chorus hook, powerful bridge — uplifting music with excellent production. We love the Beatles-esque drums and real piano. Phenomenal. Thanks again Gaby — for pleasing our ears! Gaby wins our biggest prize yet, a $2500 package of $1500 cash and a 1000-CD bundle from DiscMakers.
Second Place: Joe Dolce
OK folks, this is our first foreign language prize winner! Australian songwriter Joe Dolce takes second place prize for the QuickLaunch Song Contest with his song “Lynetta” — which is in French. We loved the song even before we knew what was being sung. We were happy to find out from the translation on sonicbids that the lyrics were as stimulating as the music. This is a fun, traditional sounding, folksy song that takes us back in time to the streets of Paris on a warm sunny day. It is a love song that oscillates from the present to reminiscences of first meeting. Nice work Joe! Joe wins a $500 prize package of $350 cash and a $150 DiscMakers CD replication coupon.
Lynetta performed by Joe Dolce from the album "The Wind Cries Mary.” Music and English lyrics by Joe Dolce (Dolceamore Music). French translation by Mario Gentil (Magesongs Music). Publishing and Master Rights administered by Dolceamore Music, Melbourne, Australia.
